Sobre lenguajes corporales: Una visión transversal del tratamiento simbólico del cuerpo en el mundo indígena en Venezuela

This article explores the uses and meanings of embodiment in indigenous cultures that inhabited and still live in Venezuelan territory. Our aim consists identifying different means of symbolic representation through corporality, and proof differences and correlations in space and time. We understand there exists a symbolic imaginary on the body, which is shared by different cultural horizons, from very distant periods and regions, and which still exists in the present. We shall proof to what extent the representation and treatment of the body coincide in these societies with notions that connect each individual with transcendental ideals, related to their particular cosmogony and mythology.
