Resumen
The arrival in Chile during the 18th century of around forty German Jesuit coadjutors trained in various crafts significantly changed the local artistic scene. The incorporation of new stylistic forms and working practices left a mark that extended beyond the expulsion of the members of the Society. This paper reflects on how the woodworking crafts cultivated by the German Jesuits changed sacred spaces. New architectural, ornamental, and sculptural forms transformed the interior appearance of Chilean churches.
