Abstract

This paper deals with the problem of the ontological status of inter-monadic relations in Leibniz's philosophy. I shall argue that, given (i) Leibniz's notion of substance as a complete being and (2) his characterization of Cod as a free creator agent, intermonadic relations cannot be understood as mere entities of reason grounded ab extra on the cognitive operations of the human mind, but instead should be understood as real (relational) properties depending on the inner configuration of individual substances themselves.
