Abstract

The work environment is key to a humanized service and business growth. This research examines the evolution of scientific production on “work environment” and “job performance”, identifying influencing factors and analyzing key indicators. Publications in Web of Science (1978–2023) were studied using visual mapping techniques with VOSviewer. The results show exponential growth in the last decade, highlighting the strategic potential of the topic. A total of 294 articles with 2,120 citations were compiled, identifying 919 authors, with 73.6% of contributions coming from the top 10 authors. This research synthesizes current knowledge and provides an updated discussion on the relationship between work environment and job performance, offering perspectives for future studies. It is concluded that scientific production on work environment and job performance has grown exponentially in recent years, with citations concentrated among few authors and institutions. International collaboration stands out, though methodological gaps persist, suggesting the need for future systematic reviews to strengthen research quality.
