Abstract

This article analyzes the rescue of captives during truces signed by the Nasrid Emirate of Granada (1232-1492) and the Kingdom of Castile during the 13 th -15 th centuries. We know that one of the major impacts of border activity and battles beyond it was the taking of captives, who suffered the consequences while maintaining a distant hope for rescue. The lucky ones found their freedom, whether because they were indeed rescued or because they escaped. For both capture and rescue, the texts of the truces include a series of mechanisms that respond to a border context undergoing phases of violence and influenced by the internal problems of each state.
