Abstract
The "Ejercicio topográfico: Un balcón en el valle" project (Topographic exercise: A balcony for the valley") for the National Stadium of Santiago (Chile) suggests the reversal of the physical and functional obsolescence of the sports pitch by means of a comprehensive and anticipatory urbanism. By bringing together professional sport and recreation, the project incorporates five dimensions (urban, citizens', sporting, educational and sustainable dimensions) in a public park apt to host the South American Games (ODESUR by its Portuguese acronym) in 2014 and incorporate the citizens' dimension by providing with recreational public space the south-east area of the capital city.
