Abstract

Three kinds of fluorescent powders were separated by means of organic liquid-liquid extraction for the recycling purpose. The effect of surfactant concentration on the separation of the fluorescent powders was observed. In this study, the effect was analyzed by observing aggregate structure of the green and blue fluorescent powders using an experimental apparatus, which measured the interactive force between two surfaces of glass hemisphere and flat plate under electric field. The maximum distance between two surfaces is 20 μm. The size of aggregates and adsorption state of green and blue fluorescent powders in heptane containing a certain amount of surfactant was measured. This method would be very useful for measuring the size of aggregate and the adsorption state of ultra fine particles dispersed in solution.
