Abstract

The first part of this chapter deals with the fundamental aspects and fabrication of solar cells through the utilization of the fascinating material graphene as the active layer, electron/hole collection layer, counter electrode, transparent conducting electrode, and Schottky junction solar cell. Various configurations with the inclusion of graphene material in solar cells and its photovoltaic parameters with overall photoconversion efficiency are summarized in tables. The second part presents the recent development of multifunctional graphene-based materials for photothermal therapeutic cancer treatment, where the conversion of light energy into thermal energy using graphene as the active material for biomedical applications is discussed comprehensively.
