Abstract
This article aims to introduce an epistemic, political and methodical disjunction within the notion of devastation, enabling a bifurcation of the term beyond its purely referential and constative character. We seek to elucidate how this concept allows an outward displacement of the structuring conditions that determine reason as a centralizing and determining faculty of the link between the human and the nonhuman. This forces a movement linked to an exercise of thinking about the present in the light of a worldview that forces us to recognize the intertwining of thought with the material conditions on which, ultimately, it depends.
