Abstract
This article explores the life and work of José María Cruxent (1909-2001). Born in Catalonia and based in Venezuela, he emerged as a crucial figure in the development of that country's archaeology while simultaneously working as an artist, developing an Informalist language that connects him to his Catalan roots. The text explores the extent to which Cruxent interwove his scientific endeavours with his artistic oeuvre, transforming his practice into an epistemology of the Senses. Also evident is that way that through all his work, the indigenous world in Venezuela became the reflection that inspired his different quests.
