Abstract
We analyze a half-filled four-band ladder with a relative shift between legs that generates a moire supercell and narrows minibands near the Fermi level. Short-range interactions produce an excitonic incommensurate CDW with a gapped Higgs mode and neutral phasons, whose velocity depends on the mismatch, suggesting an excitonic origin for HfTee.
