Abstract
The theory of abstraction has been one of the most common subjects concerning the doctrine of Aquinas. This paper continues this tradition but establishing a critic point of view. Taking into account the numerous conflicts between different opinions on this matter, my purpose is to outline a differential approach allowing a) to discover the ambiguity causing a maze in the thomistic tradition, and b) to suggest a new path towards the positive comprehension of the actual meaning of "abstraction" according to Aquinas.
