Abstract
The review article examines research studies in a specific area using different methodologies. Thus, the objective of this article is to describe the rhetorical organization of this genre. A total of 105 texts from a group of indexed journals were analysed. A rhetorical model was created comprising 6 macro-moves, 12 moves, and 14 steps. The findings demonstrate a high degree of flexibility within the genre, caused by the type of review, the author, and the norms. It is concluded that this is a genre with dynamic rhetorical patterns; which, however, makes the textual production more complex. Structuring this model is a contribution to professional literacy in Spanish for academic purposes in the medical field.
