Abstract
In the present commentary I address the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Ezequiel Spector’s book Freedom as social cooperation. A theory of liberal democracy. The commentary to the Introduction highlights and problematizes the character of ‘ideal drawn from experience’ (and not abstract) that Spector gives to the notion of freedom understood as ‘social cooperation’, while the commentary to Chapter 1 concentrates on the notions of ‘self-realization’ and ‘relational component’ that fundamentally nourish this way of understanding freedom.
