Abstract

The intra-peninsular relationships between the Emperor Alfonso VII of Leon were shaped by the relationship and struggles against both the Christian realms inside the borders and against the Islamic beyond them. This paper aims to describe the relationships established by the Emperor with other Christian sovereigns, making special emphasis in the stratagems of alliance and jurisdiction over Muslim leaders. Such strategies were aimed to establish jurisdiction through the use of space at the expense of the taifas of al-Andalus. This is the case of the links established with the sovereign Zafadola.
