Research Interests
My research analyzes terrestrial and marine socio-ecological systems, with a focus on ecosystem services, evidence-based conservation, and biodiversity spatial planning. I am particularly interested in the science–policy interface and in developing integrative approaches that connect ecosystem assessments with decision-making in terrestrial and marine spatial planning. Currently, I serve as Co-chair of the global assessment on spatial planning of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), and I conduct research on nature-based solutions for coastal conservation and restoration.
