Prof. Carlos Jerez-Hanckes research interests include the design of fast computational methods for acoustic and electromagnetic waves scattering in complex and random media, with applications ranging from radio-astronomy, energy and water harvesting technologies to biomedical engineering. Major contributions can be summarized in: mathematical and computational results for wave transmission problems; derivation of the multiple traces formulations; numerical analysis of finite and boundary element methods for shape uncertainty quantification in electromagnetics; derivation of theoretical and computational fast operator preconditioners amenable to high-performance computing environments; spectral methods for screen problems; homogenization methods for neural signal propagation; quasi-periodic media, among several interdisciplinary projects.
